The stagnant princess

Dissidia fanart as a b-day gift. Not only fun to make, but I feel like I learned a lot about colour while making it. Hopefully the next piece will be more than just fanart sitting there haha. Seriously, her stagnant pose really disappoints me, I'm gonna overhaul those entirely this reading week : I

Markers!

So I went lifedrawing with my tutor Cheyenne, and she convinced me to use my old markers, of which I have about 100 or so : > It was so fun I practically forgot I was lifedrawing, which for me is usually a struggle and a pain. Anywho I think I'll be shooting for coloured lifedrawings on thursdays from now on, and I'll see where it takes me.

Picture moment

First professional story pitch!! It was successful to boot, we got Nancy Beiman laughing, and the required edits for the leica are minimal. Good job guys, everyone in the group did great work.

I'll throw up the leica when its done along with my finished boards.

So a penguin walks into a bar...

Whew, I haven't posted anything in awhile, and haven't posted school related jazz in even longer. So we finished that bastard muscle test, and though my memory of the names was less than awesome, my drawing got a high A, so I'm pretty happy with how it went all things considered.

By the way, the polar bear and penguin are for character design class, had to be two anthropomorphic animals, that was pretty much the only requirement. So, Rodney Dangerfield and Dean Martin inspired my bear design, and Jimmy Stewart at the bottom of the barrel gave me the initial idea of the penguin. I sort of wish I could have shown off their personalities more, but the project is too small to really get into it, unless I do so on my free time of course.

Anywho, I recently had an epiphany or two about art/ drawing and suddenly I feel a lot more creative than I've felt for awhile. I'll probably expand on that later on but for now, at 1:30 AM I just want to post something and go to bed.

Kids these days...

Saw Tangled, it was nice! Didn't really dig Flynn, but I thought Gothel was a pretty strong villain and Maximus made my day : >  Too bad this is so damn rough, real art to come later on.

Happy new years!

Spent new years putting away some drinks with a few other somber friends. Anywho even if it's a day late, I wanted to make something to ring in 2011. It's Braniac 5 fanart, since everyone I know in Toronto seems super into dc at the moment I thought I'd draw a character I liked from the group. Took some liberties with his outfit >>

Sketchbook completion

So a week and a half ago I finished the sketchbook i started at thanksgiving (Canadian thanksgiving) and I've been committed to posting a few pages. It's been a hassle to get it all ready though. Anywho, here's what was up around october, there's a few pages of process so please try to see past the rough/sloppy execution. Todd White (Spongebob character designer) came to the school around then and is one of the caricatures btw, it was a pretty cool interview held by Nancy Beiman. I'm happy I had the chance to go, it was fun.

Part 2 of Emslie

So I managed to convince Peter to caricature me one more time and this one is even funnier! He says the old one is better and its true, I definitely like it more, but this one has a silly charm. I think it's cute how sassy I apparently look ; D

Family dinner

Went to a family dinner and had a decent enough time, I got a couple drawings (literally 2 and some thumbnails) in and I thought I should throw em up. Didn't get the chance to finish much of my work though : / This coming week will be a bit of a hassle for it buuuuut I can take it!

I'm Back! (warning, tl;dr ahead)

Wooooooo first week of school is now over, and I'm officially a 2nd year in Sheridan's animation program! So, first on the agenda is updating this place, I haven't posted anything on here in ages and considering that this is pretty much my only online art hub, that's a problem. The new term looks promising, and I immediately felt a sense of artistic purpose return as the week went on; this hopefully means I'll be posting stuff more often : >

Until I come up with some scan-worthy art to show off, please enjoy these photos of my spankin' new desk. This particular desk belonged to my role model 2 years ago, I'm quite proud to have claimed it and then thrown as much crap as I could find onto it. Decorating is presently at: 60% completion!

Oh, the inspiration on my desk includes art from: Glen Keane, Annette Marnat, and Claire Wendling. From deviant art: Chib-bee, Crazydragon, Jubilations and Arnistotle. The toys are there just for fun, if you don't recognize one, feel free to ask.

PPL

A handful of the ppl I hang out with at school, including myself. If I'm up for it, I might do up another one with some more folks I like : >  I thought I'd try something new with this and I think it worked out pretty well. Hope you guys like it <3

included is: Chris Parks, Laura Sloan, Sasha Bobasha (can't spell her last name ehehe) Kim Luu, Al Jerek Torrijaz, Derek Ainsworth and the legs of Steven Tobiasz, all of whom have fantastic blogs that can prob be found through this one.... OH and a Thurman skull for completeness ;p

New job

So after searching for two months I finally got a job and it's damn hard! I work closing duties knee deep in bleach and other products of various colours/opaqueness, testing my physique against a set of straining activities while fighting the clock to try and finish within 2.5 hours of my arrival; which has yet to come close to happening : p Sounds like sour grapes but I'm grateful, I wish I was making more money though.

Can't wait for the summer I get to look for a 'career' instead : ) Till then, have some sketches.

Well, it's been forever

But it's not like I've done nothing so far, time for a doodle dump.... The scanner just seems so menacing when the 'to do' pile is this huge!

OH, I also turned 21 on, June 21st sooo happy b day to me haha. I would've made a post, but a post without a picture is like a birthday without a cake. So here, have some pictures! Happy b day to all my friends born on June 21 as well, you giant clump of people you.

Melanie's film!

So I just got an email from Melanie Daigle, she finished her 4th year film and it looks great! What's better, my name's on the credits ;D I'm glad I could help out (if you'd call my minimal assistance) Still, I'm really happy for her and glad she's finished her big project, check her out at http://melaniedaigle.blogspot.com/

Goodbye Maya

My dog was put down yesterday so I'll say a few words for her...
She had been with my family for 10 years as of last week and was a really sweet dog,  I really value having had her around for my teenage years. Though I undoubtedly took her presence for granted she definitely made an impact on my life in the best of ways and I won't ever forget her. When we first picked Maya out from her litter, it was because unlike her siblings, she was eager to explore and make out all of her surroundings, a quality that defined alot of her personality and that she never lost in old age.

Maya is a petit basset griffon vendeen, for anyone interested in knowing her breed, she was extremely ill with serious pulmonary problems, and was suffering from seizures and intense discomfort towards the end of her life

Sometime over the next week, my family will be scattering her ashes at the park we always took her to, I hope school won't interfere and that I'll get to say a final goodbye.

Rest in peace Maya,
you were an exceptional companion and a good dog
