Haven't posted in awhile cause of this stupid muscle test coming up. While I should've been studying, I played a little bit of left4dead2, it was fun and hard, way hard. Anywho I did up some fanart of Rochelle in char design. Anyone get the "Rochelle Rochelle" reference? I guess the movie was a splatterfest ; >

Saw Tangled, it was nice! Didn't really dig Flynn, but I thought Gothel was a pretty strong villain and Maximus made my day : >  Too bad this is so damn rough, real art to come later on.

Sketchbook completion

So a week and a half ago I finished the sketchbook i started at thanksgiving (Canadian thanksgiving) and I've been committed to posting a few pages. It's been a hassle to get it all ready though. Anywho, here's what was up around october, there's a few pages of process so please try to see past the rough/sloppy execution. Todd White (Spongebob character designer) came to the school around then and is one of the caricatures btw, it was a pretty cool interview held by Nancy Beiman. I'm happy I had the chance to go, it was fun.

First tonals

These are my tonal studies for my first painting project, mm first tonal studies at least; I'd do some in gouache but the closest source of Acryla gouache is too far to get to during business hours at the moment : /

Got my beats finished and pitched today as well, which is actually the bigger news but since I don't have them scanned nicely, I think I'll downplay that for the time being.

In other news I saw splice tonight, it ws weird but sorta cool ( sorta creepy too ) dunno what to think of it just yet, but it was definitely worth mention on my blog (not to say inception, scotty p, and kickass all didn't... I'm just forgetful)

Story beat roughs

Story beats based on a poem given to us in storyboarding class, these are just the roughs though; next week comes the real deal. This year I have Nancy Beiman, and while it's too early to set my expectations for the class, from what I've seen it'll be a great learning experience and improve my staging quite a bit. For now, this is what I could come up with.

Family dinner

Went to a family dinner and had a decent enough time, I got a couple drawings (literally 2 and some thumbnails) in and I thought I should throw em up. Didn't get the chance to finish much of my work though : / This coming week will be a bit of a hassle for it buuuuut I can take it!

Red Mist

Me and some friends from school watched Kickass a few nights ago, and one of my senior buddies asked me for a drawing of Red Mist, an 'adorkable' antagonist from the film. So apparently after I gave it to her she coloured it, and just sent the finished version to me about 5 mins ago! Stylin

Just a style test, total scrap. Was going to make it Envy Adams from Scott Pilgrim (read the books awhile ago, can't say the movie doesn't have me excited though) but it didn't make it far enough along, maybe I'll do that up later.

Just a page of sketches, I think I've loosened up a bit; and cause of it, they're feeling a lot more complete. I can't seem to be able to get my hands on nico marlet's sketchbook ; p I'm going hunting!

How to train your pet Gaga

An experiment inspired by the amazing artwork of Bobby Pontillas and his animation appropriate style. I'm still searching for my own place stylistically, and there's just something so charming and simple about this approach; this is not to say I'm actually GOOD at it. This is really just the first step into waters unknown and I doubt I'll be staying in one place for too long.

That said, I've wanted to draw gaga in a different dragon per song for awhile now, since I saw the movie! I'd rather do them all up as finished products.... but I felt this experiment was worth showing.

More stuff

Just one more page though, I think I'll start working on some more presentable/ finished up stuff. It strikes me that I've been spending most of my time practicing on concepts, sketches and doodles of the same quality. Back to the drawing board!

New job

So after searching for two months I finally got a job and it's damn hard! I work closing duties knee deep in bleach and other products of various colours/opaqueness, testing my physique against a set of straining activities while fighting the clock to try and finish within 2.5 hours of my arrival; which has yet to come close to happening : p Sounds like sour grapes but I'm grateful, I wish I was making more money though.

Can't wait for the summer I get to look for a 'career' instead : ) Till then, have some sketches.

Well, it's been forever

But it's not like I've done nothing so far, time for a doodle dump.... The scanner just seems so menacing when the 'to do' pile is this huge!

OH, I also turned 21 on, June 21st sooo happy b day to me haha. I would've made a post, but a post without a picture is like a birthday without a cake. So here, have some pictures! Happy b day to all my friends born on June 21 as well, you giant clump of people you.
